For the month of June and with Pride Month in mind, we’re reading Girls Girls Girls by Shoshana von Blanckensee.
A vibrant queer Jewish debut novel, Girls Girls Girls follows a group of young women navigating friendship, ambition, and identity within an elite, image-conscious social world. Set in mid-1990s, the novel leans into a strong sense of nostalgia while capturing the cultural textures of the era. As relationships shift between intimacy and rivalry, the book explores how power, desire, and insecurity shape their connections. Through sharp dialogue and keen social observation, it reveals the pressures of performing femininity in a status-driven environment.

Edward Di Gangi: Author Q&A + Signing
Join us at the shop for an Author A&A and Book Signing with local author Edward Di Gangi on Friday, May 8, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Di Gangi, a local writer from Hillsborough, NC, is the author of two deeply moving works that explore adoption, identity, and the lifelong impact of family connections.
His first book, "The Gift Best Given: A Memoir," tells the story of his search—beginning at age 69—for the identity of the birth mother who placed him for adoption. Blending personal narrative with historical detail, the book traces his journey of discovery and reveals the surprising life of his mother, a professional ice skater in the 1940s, while capturing themes of resilience, love, and reunion.
His latest book, "Gliding Through Goodbye," offers a powerful companion perspective. Inspired by notes left by his birth mother, Di Gangi reconstructs her voice in the form of a diary, following her life after the adoption. The book interweaves her travels across the United States and beyond with her emotional journey, illuminating a mother’s love and the pain of letting go.
During the event, guests will have the opportunity to hear more about the stories behind these books, ask questions, and meet the author. Copies will be available for purchase, and Edward will be signing throughout the afternoon.
We hope you’ll join us for this meaningful and memorable event!

Mystery/Thriller Book Club (April): The Decagon House Murders by Yukito Ayatsuji
Join us for The Dogeared Page’s semi-monthly Mystery & Thriller Book Club! This month, we're venturing somewhere truly sinister.
Our April read is The Decagon House Murders by Yukito Ayatsuji, a landmark of Japanese mystery fiction that sparked an entire revival of the classic puzzle mystery genre. First published in 1987, it follows members of a university mystery club who travel to a remote island to visit the Decagon House, a ten-sided mansion and the site of a gruesome unsolved mass murder. Then, one by one, they start to disappear…
Fiendishly plotted, scrupulously fair-play (all the clues are there if you know where to look), and building to a conclusion that will leave you reeling, this is essential reading for any fan of locked-room mysteries and golden age-style whodunits. (Fair warning: you'll want to take notes.)

Bookseller's Choice (April) Book Club: James by Percival Everett
Our Bookseller’s Choice Book Club is a true literary “grab bag” — a charcuterie board of compelling reads selected across genres by our bookselling team. Each month, we gather at the shop to dive into a new selection, sharing perspectives and lively conversation about the book and its themes.
For the month of April, we’re reading James by Percival Everett.
This brilliant, Pulitzer Prize-winning novel is a reimagining of Mark Twain's classic novel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, told from the perspective of the enslaved Jim, who reveals himself to be an educated, witty man forced to "code-switch" for survival. When Jim overhears he is to be sold and separated from his family, he escapes, embarking on a dangerous journey down the Mississippi River with Huck Finn, who has faked his own death. The novel is a harrowing, often satirical examination of American slavery and identity, providing deep agency to its protagonist as he works to protect his family and claim his own narrative.'

Bookseller's Choice (March) Book Club: The Man in the High Castle
Our Bookseller’s Choice Book Club is a true literary “grab bag” — a charcuterie board of compelling reads selected across genres by our bookselling team. Each month, we gather at the shop to dive into a new selection, sharing perspectives and lively conversation about the book and its themes.
For the month of March, we’re reading "The Man in the High Castle" by Philip K. Dick.
In this haunting work of alternate history, the Axis powers have won World War II, and the United States has been divided under totalitarian rule. As characters move through a fractured America shaped by propaganda, occupation, and quiet resistance, the novel explores unsettling questions about truth, authenticity, and the nature of reality itself. Layered, philosophical, and eerily relevant, "The Man in the High Castle" challenges readers to reconsider how history is written, and who holds the power to shape it.

Blind Date with a Book: Valentine’s Day Edition!
Don't have any Valentine’s Day plans this year?
You do now.
Our much-beloved Blind Date with a Book returns on Saturday, 2/14/26, and we’ll be ready right at 9a when the shop opens to set you up with a surprise literary match.
Each book is wrapped up with a few flirty clues about genre and themes, no awkward small talk (or swiping left or right) required.
The shop is open 9a–5p and the event will last as long as the books do! A word of warning, though: these blind date books have a history of selling out FAST, and we only play matchmaker a few times a year. Get here early… because let's be honest: a book is sometimes the better date anyway.
See you there, Valentine...

For the month of January, we are reading "The Empress" by Kristin Cast.
Hannah is a modern-day Chicago woman whose life is upended by a tarot reading that transports her to the magical, tarot-infused world of Towerfall. There, she meets the brooding warrior Kane, who claims she's the key to saving his realm from ruin, forcing her into a fake marriage and a dangerous quest where she must embrace her own hidden magic to survive and find her way home. The first book in the Towerfall series, "The Empress" blends modern life with fantastical, tarot-inspired adventure, steamy romance, and courtly intrigue.
