Danville, YOU asked, and WE listened!
After the overwhelming response to our Galentine’s Day Book Bedazzling Workshop, we’ve been getting the same question over and over again: When are you guys doing another one?!
Well... the wait is officially OVER! We're bringing our Book Bedazzling workshop back by popular demand this September!
Join us at the bookshop on Saturday, 9/5/26 from 6–8 PM for a hands-on, after-hours crafting experience where you’ll learn how to bedazzle the cover of your favorite book! Whether you’re coming with friends or flying solo, this event is the perfect way to get a little creative and celebrate your love of books, while adding a little sparkle to your shelves.
We’ll provide all the materials needed for the craft, as well as step-by-step guidance and some non-alcoholic bubbly to sip on while you work. Tickets are $25 per person, and you can either BYOB(ook) OR purchase a book to bedazzle in-store and enjoy 20% off the cover price with your event ticket.
There is NO experience necessary for this event. ALL are welcome. Even if you're historically "bad" at crafting! (Seriously, no stress)

Danville’s Dolly Walk!
Tumble outta bed and put on your biggest hair, your sparkliest outfit, and your best Dolly attitude, because Danville’s first-ever Dolly Walk is happening THIS MONTH!
In honor of the one and only Dolly Parton, we’re hosting a 1-mile charity walk celebrating her incredible life, legacy, and lifelong commitment to literacy. All proceeds from the walk will be donated to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, an organization Dolly founded in 1995 to put books into the hands of children everywhere, in the hopes of inspiring a lifelong love of reading.
Why 12:30 PM? Because, as Dolly would say, we’re workin’ 9 to 5! Grab your coworkers, make it a corporate affair, and spend your lunch break walking for a wonderful cause. Bring the whole office, rally your team, and show Danville what happens when we put our community behind a good cause!
EVENT DETAILS:
This is an easy, 1 mile, fun walk beginning and ending at The Dogeared Page, located at 525 Main Street.
Costumes are encouraged (and will be celebrated!), but are not required! We’d love it if you’d come dressed in your very best Dolly-inspired attire, the bigger the hair and the more rhinestone sparkle, the better!
Free bottled water and refreshments will be served at the shop after the walk for all participants.
The first 100 registrants will receive a custom-designed “Danville’s Dolly Walk” enamel pin to commemorate their participation.
Stick around after the walk to browse, chat, and shop with us, because we’re keeping the giving going! In addition to the walk proceeds, The Dogeared Page will be donating 10% of our shop proceeds from Friday, 9/25, to the Imagination Library.

Silent Book Club (October): A Banned Books Week Read-In
We’re doing something a little different this month for our Silent Book Club….
October 4-10, 2026 is the national Banned Books Week. This month, in solidarity with the American Library Association and the Banned Books Week Coalition, The Dogeared Page will be leading a “read-in” on the steps of Danville’s City Hall, located at 427 Patton Street. Our rallying call will be the 2026 Banned Books Week theme: “Let Books Be. Protect the Freedom to Read.”
A "read-in" is a peaceful community gathering where people sit together and read books that have been banned, challenged, or removed from schools and libraries. These events raise awareness about censorship and celebrate the freedom to read.
We encourage you to bring your own book (or audiobook!) selection from PEN America’s banned books list found here. Please also be sure to bring appropriate clothing and hydration since this will be an OUTDOORS event. We’ll follow our usual cadence of 10-15 minutes of casual conversation and book recommendations, giving you a chance to meet new friends and discover your next great read, followed by 45 minutes of quiet, uninterrupted reading time together.
Help us remind people that reading is a vital personal right. Let’s celebrate that right by reading together and protecting the freedom to read.

This seminal 1971 "gonzo journalism" novel by Hunter S. Thompson chronicles a drug-fueled, surreal road trip to Las Vegas. The narrative follows protagonist Raoul Duke and his attorney, Dr. Gonzo, as they descend into a hallucinogenic, chaotic haze to chase the distorted remnants of the American Dream. Through a series of chaotic encounters, the book serves as a dark, satirical critique of the 1960s counterculture's decline and a critique of American society.

Edward Di Gangi: Author Q&A + Signing
Join us at the shop for an Author A&A and Book Signing with local author Edward Di Gangi on Friday, May 8, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Di Gangi, a local writer from Hillsborough, NC, is the author of two deeply moving works that explore adoption, identity, and the lifelong impact of family connections.
His first book, "The Gift Best Given: A Memoir," tells the story of his search—beginning at age 69—for the identity of the birth mother who placed him for adoption. Blending personal narrative with historical detail, the book traces his journey of discovery and reveals the surprising life of his mother, a professional ice skater in the 1940s, while capturing themes of resilience, love, and reunion.
His latest book, "Gliding Through Goodbye," offers a powerful companion perspective. Inspired by notes left by his birth mother, Di Gangi reconstructs her voice in the form of a diary, following her life after the adoption. The book interweaves her travels across the United States and beyond with her emotional journey, illuminating a mother’s love and the pain of letting go.

Jeffrey Bennett: Author Q&A + Signing
Join us at The Dogeared Page on Saturday, February 28, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM for a special afternoon with local author Jeff Bennett as we celebrate the release of his new book, "The Black Belt of Virginia: Untold Stories of African American History."
During the event, Bennett will read selections from his book, followed by a brief Q&A with the author about why this history remains vital today.
Published in January 2026, by The History Press, The Black Belt of Virginia explores the rich legacy of Black communities across the Commonwealth, including the histories of more than 70 displaced communities whose stories have too often gone untold. Through careful research and compelling storytelling, Bennett shines a light on resilience, cultural contributions, and the lasting impact of these communities on Virginia’s past and present.
A Virginia native from Danville and a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute (VMI), Bennett specializes in Black history, race relations, and African diaspora studies. His work has appeared in publications including Cardinal News, The Danville Register & Bee, and Medium.

Our much-beloved Blind Date with a Book returns on Saturday, 2/14/26, and we’ll be ready right at 9a when the shop opens to set you up with a surprise literary match.
Each book is wrapped up with a few flirty clues about genre and themes, no awkward small talk (or swiping left or right) required.
